Ground Rules
- Wheaton's Law: Don't Be A Dick!
- We're about women/female-identified creators. Men can be mentioned insofar as they are directly relevant to a woman's life/career.
- Let me repeat that bit about female-identified creators. There is a zero-tolerance policy for trans-bigotry. The creator's preferred pronouns are to be used at all times.
- Original research is welcome; actual conversations with creators/associates/historians should be cited as "Personal Correspondence with (username).
- Don't be afraid to ask questions if you're not sure about something!
More Specific Rules
- Our purpose is tied to the respect of women creators. Therefore, living creators have the right to request the removal of any information for any reason, and expect it will remain excised. Such information currently includes:
- Devin Grayson's birth name
- Kelly Sue DeConnick's early writing experience for adult publications.
Basic Style Guide
Creator's pages should generally be named after their most common credit name. In general pages will be formatted as below, with modifications where appropriate:
(Creator template) Creator Full Legal Name (birth date - death date), followed by Common Credit Name, followed by a brief introduction of 1-3 sentences, including their most notable credits, other careers, and where appropriate, certain biographical details.
(Heading 2) Life and Career Typically creator biographies will not be so in-depth as to require more than one section, but feel free to break it up into other sections as appropriate. Try to keep it as chronological as possible.
(Heading 2) Bibliography If the list of credits is particularly long, credits should be split by creative role (writer, editor, penciller, etc) via the List template. Otherwise, (Heading 3) will suffice.
(Heading 2) External Links
- Links to official and fan sites
- including Twitter, blog, ComicBookDB profile, etc
(Heading 2) Sources
- Books, websites, etc. come first
followed by the < references/ > tag followed by the Wikipedia template
Add categories based on: Comics Ages in which they worked, Comics fields worked in (e.g. comic books, newspaper strips, manga, etc), Creative roles, Nationalities, Ethnicities, Religion, and Sexual/Gender orientation (use the LGBT creators tag for all). If an article is quite short, also include the Stubs tag.
Creator Template
The Creator template should include all information asked for in the fields. If no photo is available, enter a placeholder with File:Placeholder|center (in two square brackets). All pictures should be displayed no wider than 250px (though large files are preferred in general), and centered. They should not be displayed as thumbnails, unless the image calls for a visible caption. For all dates, link to a page for the month and day, then add the information to that page.
Events Pages
If no page for a given date currently exists, create one on a blank page. Organize the page, with the information available, like so:
Births
- (Year): Creator
(Occasionally other dates, such a marriage or character/strip/book debuts will be sufficiently notable to be included)
Deaths
- (Year): Creator
Add to the Events category, and DEFAULTSORT the page based on the month (using 1-9 for January-September, and A-C for October-December). After saving, rename to "Template:Month Day", making sure to leave a redirect behind.
